Finally, a song that I can call my own! I wrote this and I am happy about it. The chorus is the best part in my opinion, and I performed this for the first time at school last Thursday night. I wore a green dress, 3 inch heels, and a white thin sweater. Tears of joy came out of my eyes after, and it would have been great if my parents came, but I know I’ve made them proud. I was frustrated mostly on my music video because I was planning to do a scene where I walk while reminiscing just like what people do but every time I try to plan it, it rained… hard. I had to make other alternative scenes but it worked for the best. So I like my song better than my music video. I loved this project because it let the audience saw another side of me, maybe something they didn’t know about me, like me being a Jehovah’s Witness. Without further ado, here it is.

Since our performance for our music video and song is coming near in February, it’s officially crunch time! Everyone’s song sounds like what they would do, it’s like it’s their identity. Well that is what our project’s about: WHO YOU ARE, or in short IDENTITY. I’m so glad I joined the DSA academy, and I’ve wanted this since Sophomore year. I have no regrets joining, because I’m spreading my wings and preparing for take off… Recording the song on Monday didn’t happen, so I need to reschedule soon. Most people will rap and sing, but few will be doing spoken words. I’m so excited and nervous at the same time as February is just around the corner.

I haven’t posted anything in my blog in awhile, so I wanted to update this while I’m in a classroom… Hehe. The deadline for the music video for DSA in school is on the 29th of January and I’m getting all the footage I can for my video. It’s really fun and stressful at the same time to do this, because sometimes the footage is shaky, and I want to keep it steady as possible. I started shooting scenes yesterday, and I will get more footage at lunchtime in school. So I’m planning on getting some scenes where I’m taking a walk, because some people take walks to clear their head or to reminisce events in the past, so that’s what I’ll do. I don’t want to give more away but it’s like a remembering video that will have my close friends in my life. I have yet to record my song that will go with my music video and that will happen Monday, so I will just shoot scenes for the video instead. I’m excited because I can now have a song and music video to call my OWN. Original, with my concept and me!

Electronic Arts Reflection

I stopped playing video games since I was 14, and I hoped this trip could help bring back my interest in video games. It did, because what the people do there looks exciting. To contribute to a best-selling game would be an honor, and I bet those people are passionate about their work. In the inside of the building were banners of the new games coming out like Sims 3, Harry Potter, and NFL ’10. My group was mostly excited about the EA game store, and that was our last stop of the tour. Unbelievable prices that had a $30 dollar game into $15 dollars! I had no regrets choosing EA as my second choice for a career exploration visit, but I just wish that there could have been more hands-on and showing more of the reality of work. I know for sure there are cubicles, but the tour guide Julie Wynn didn’t take us upstairs. But what she did show us were the basketball gym, exercise gym, volleyball court, and kid’s playground. Of course, since their games include sports, they should have these as well. Their employees can also use this to be active in exercise as well like today’s well known athletes. I love how the tour guide kept saying “Hi friend” to the employees in EA because the impression that I get is that they’re one big family inside a major company, and they are showing that it’s a great place to work in, but very challenging at the same time. I learned new vocabulary, like “X,” which is the central theme in a game. The company promotes their video games and makes their consumers play it before hitting stores to receive feedback from the game, and what could be done to make it better.

Blogging For What I’m Thankful For (#2)

We met July 2006 on a Saturday, and that Saturday was one of the best days in my life. It’s when I first met my best friend Elaine. Her presence makes me want to become a better person, and I’m so happy to have her become part in my life. Even if we don’t hang out as much as I would like, because we’re growing up and spreading our wings, I just hope she knows that I miss her and that I still love her very much. Being in the same grade, age, school, faith (religion), and Kingdom Hall is something that doesn’t go unnoticed and can’t be forgotten. All of the memories the past three years Elaine and I made were wonderful, and it brings tears to my eyes as I’m writing this post because we had been through joy and pain and I wouldn’t trade these memories for anything in the world.

Blogging For What I’m Thankful For (Post #1)

Ms. Paul has given us an opportunity for us to get 3 points extra credit for every blog post on what we are thankful for. We keep blogging or blog every other day until Thanksgiving, and since I have a lot of free time still in my life even if it is junior year, I figured why not? Here goes:

I am thankful for my family because they have been with me even if I’m hardheaded and headstrong. With their guidance and discipline, I wouldn’t be who I am today: a Jehovah’s Witness. I’m thankful for my mama because she has taught me to be more responsible by giving me more chores now, advice about boys, friends and more information about the Filipino culture. I’m thankful for my papa when he gives me more spiritual guidance, my schoolwork and education. I love their stories when they’re young because it’s a sign that they don’t want me to do the same mistakes they did, or to learn from it.

My Song

My song for the I.D.entity project is the first song I ever wrote by myself, and I want it to sound like I have trouble with myself and the world, but in the end that is what life is about: a roller coaster. Since my favorite genre is R&B, and my favorite singer is Mariah Carey, I would like to incorporate both of them in my song. But the beat would be either R&B or Rock, and I would use a Mariah song or a Rock song for starters on what I would want it to sound like. Of course, I would leave the high notes to Mariah… xp My voice is not that high, yet it’s not that low either. It’s in the middle, so perfect combination I guess.

Funerals (Idk why it has the word “FUN” in it…)

Going to a funeral held at Sacramento in a Kingdom Hall (church for Jehovah’s Witnesses) takes sooo long to get there, but it was worth it because it opened my eyes that there are people dying. Obviously there’s alot of deaths happening each day, but I’ve never been exposed to that yet. No one close to me has died, and I still haven’t experienced the feeling of losing someone to death. My grandpa died but I wasn’t even born yet… The person that died yesterday was a woman named Mercy, and I thought I wasn’t going to cry because I wasn’t that close to her, but as the speaker talked about how she was a good person, and having a sad smile on her face at the last hours of her death, saying “I don’t want to die yet” hit the spot. I stood in line and hugged her family members for condolences, and as I eventually hugged all of them, more tears came out… Very emotional indeed, but what ruined the emotional feelings were that knowing there was going to be a wedding held after this funeral… Nice… O.O

Finally, the music is included! It’s not just a solid beat, because there’s different feeling in all the scenes. The beginning has a sexy, “in your face” attitude, because of the popular girls and boys shown. Leylani has a rock feeling because of her tomboy, working out demeanor. But as I come to talk to her, we get a slow and sentimental beat because she is telling me she likes Tyler, the cool guy. At the end, it gets all summer love-ish and magical because the tomboy finally gets the guy. And that is the….
